WICKLOW ROVERS AFC CLUB NOTES WEEK ENDING 23rd AUGUST 2020

The club’s appointed Covid-19 Compliance Officer is Boodhan Rampersaud and an excellent job he is doing with the co-operation of all coaches and managers in the club. This appointment is in line with Government and FAI recommendations. The club have also carried out and completed the requested risk assessment on all our grounds and facilities which gives the club the go ahead to resume training for teams. This will be the process and teams must be reminded that all training protocols must be adhered to for the safe continuation of training. The aim of the club is to ensure the safety of all our members and their families while enjoying their return to football so please appreciate the extra effort our committee members and managers/coaches are going to so as everyone can get back to some sort of normality. As it stands, we are guided by the Government and the FAI and if there’s any changes going forward you will be notified as it happens.

The club will be holding an EGM on Monday the 7th of September, it will take place in the Wicklow Parish Hall in the old De La Salle school. The EGM is to discuss the amendments to the club constitution and ratify as required. This meeting is solely for the club constitution and no other topics will be up for discussion. Please arrive early as meeting will be starting at 8pm sharp.

Just a reminder to all managers, coaches and members that our club committee are volunteers as well. All the committee members are giving up their spare time to help with the running of the club to provide football and facilities for 23 teams, it is not acceptable to be contacting committee members at unsociable times. Also, committee members are entitled to their annual holidays with their families and where possible they should not be contacted at this time unless it’s an emergency which is not normally the case. Finally, when needing to contact a committee member please contact the committee member your query corresponds to.

The club’s weekly junior soccer academy continues every Saturday morning [weather permitting] under the watchful eye of senior club coach Johnny Dunne. The academy takes places on the all weather pitch on the club grounds at Whitegates and is open to all kids from the age of 3 years to 8 years. The academy starts at 11 o’clock and finishes at 12. There is no need for registration so you can come along to any week that suits. Come along and learn the skills of football while having fun and enjoyment, it’s a great way of meeting new friends as you learn the skills as you get prepared for the introduction to participate in organised league football in the coming years.

Wicklow Rovers AFC promote soccer for schoolboys/girls, youths and senior men in the community, our club is growing all the time and any assistance with the help of running the club would be very much appreciated. At present we have a very hard working committee but we are always on the look out for people interested in helping out, the club always need people who are interested in getting involved in soccer, whether its coaching and managing or on the executive committee or a sub committee, maybe you would just like to help as an assistant manager, help with fundraising or help just around the grounds or in any way at all, don’t hesitate, get involved, anyone interested in helping out the club in any way can contact any committee member. So if you are interested in doing some work around the club please contact any of the following committee members, Johnny Dunne, Paul Delaney, Jimmy Nolan, Trevor Conyard, Yvonne Conyard, Stephen Clarke and Ross Byrne, contact numbers can be found on the club website or alternatively you can private message our club facebook page. So why not come on board, all help is welcomed and very much appreciated.

Everyone at Wicklow Rovers AFC would like to extend their sincere sympathies to the families and friends of Thomas [Fin] Corkish [Wicklow Town], Elizabeth [Betty] Dunne [Wicklow Town], Michael [Turkey] Doyle [Rathnew] and Tommy Murphy [Ballywaltrim FC, Bray] who all sadly passed away recently.
