Our under 15's welcomed Avonmore to Whitegates this morning in the first game in the under 15 premier league. Rovers were dominant for large periods of the first half and took a deserved lead when Charlie Czwalina put them ahead. Five minutes later Rovers were awarded a penalty when Harri Armstrong was brought down in the box. Lorcan Sinnott’s well struck effort was superbly saved by the Avonmore keeper and then he saw his rebound come back off the crossbar. Daniel Kavanagh then struck the post right before half time to leave the score 1-0 at the break. Midway through the second half Avonmore got back into the game when a lapse in defence allowed their winger in to score into an empty net. A stunning free kick from the edge of the box gave Avonmore a 2-1 lead and this is how the game finished up. A good game of football from both teams. Disappointing from the home team who need to dust themselves off after their first loss of the season.
